Bring your pre-op laboratory results, imaging studies (X-ray/CT/Ultrasound), signed consent forms, valid ID, and PhilHealth/HMO cards. A companion or driver is required.
No. The procedure is performed under spinal or general anesthesia. Post-operative discomfort is typically mild and well-controlled with medication.
ESWL typically takes 45–60 minutes. You can go home the same day, usually within 2–3 hours after the procedure.
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a blood test used to screen for prostate cancer. Men over 50 years old — or over 40 with family history — should have annual PSA screening.
For surgical procedures requiring anesthesia, you must fast (nothing by mouth) from midnight the night before. For ESWL, a light breakfast is usually allowed unless told otherwise.
Biopsy results are available within 5–7 working days. Your doctor will contact you directly to discuss results and recommend next steps.
